Housing Instability

Homelessness in Gwinnett County is often an unseen crisis. Many residents believe it is not a significant issue because it is largely hidden from public view. What many do not realize is that extended-stay hotels have become temporary homes for countless individuals and families experiencing housing instability.

These long-term residents often pay daily or weekly rates that can exceed $500 per week—far more than the cost of traditional housing. Despite these high costs, they have little to no tenant protections. When a resident is unable to make a payment, they can be asked to leave immediately, often with law enforcement assistance, leaving them and their belongings without a safe place to go.

The Fortress Outreach is committed to breaking this cycle of housing insecurity. Our mission is to help individuals and families transition from temporary shelter to stable, permanent housing. Through our housing assistance program, we provide support with first month’s rent and security deposits for qualified applicants who have secured permanent housing. By removing these financial barriers, we help create pathways to stability, self-sufficiency, and hope for a brighter future.

Unseen homelessness is one of the fastest-growing yet least visible consequences of America’s housing crisis. Across our communities, extended-stay hotels have become temporary homes for individuals and families experiencing housing instability. Despite paying costly daily or weekly rates, many residents have few tenant protections and can be forced to leave immediately if they fall behind on payments, often with nowhere safe to go.

The Fortress Outreach is committed to breaking this cycle of housing insecurity by helping individuals and families transition from temporary shelter to stable, permanent housing. Through our housing assistance program, we provide qualified applicants with support for first month’s rent and security deposits, removing financial barriers and creating pathways to long-term stability, self-sufficiency, and hope.

Survivor Support

Atlanta is a vibrant cultural and entertainment hub with one of the world’s busiest airports and an extensive network of highways and public transportation. While these assets drive growth and opportunity, they also make the city a major transit corridor for human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Every day, survivors who are ready to reclaim their lives come through our community seeking safety, stability, and a chance to rebuild. The Fortress Outreach is here to answer that call with compassion, dignity, and hope.

We are dedicated to breaking the cycle of exploitation by providing comprehensive, survivor-centered support and re-entry services. Through holistic programming, we address both immediate needs and long-term healing, empowering survivors to regain independence, restore their confidence, and build sustainable futures for themselves and their families. We believe every survivor deserves more than recovery—they deserve the opportunity to thrive.
